still feeling like death

So the day after I planted my seeds there was a frost warning..................................................................
Such is life.

I am lucky I had a giant roll of plastic left over in my basement from some home repairs that were going on a few years ago and i had exactly 8.5 x 18 feet left. I also bought some of those tiny plastic garden covers with the metal rings that dig into the ground from the dollar store to cover anything the plastic couldn't reach. My garden is 9x13.5 feet so some on the sides needed the dollar store covers. I am going to leave the plastic on until the night temperatures are warmer than 5 degrees celcius...which is the temperature forecasted for tonight.

My disease biology class is over and I only have Monday night class aside from my experiment that is sort of stalled right now because of complications so I have been sitting in my couch with brain debilitating sinus congestion for the past two days. I managed to apply for a bursary yesterday though, since I guess I can still write essays while I'm sick after years of practice.

Full time university + a shitty immune system + a penchant for anxiety which further supresses immune system + living in the North = lots of colds when I have no time for colds.

my cheese cloth came in for the rain barrel. hopefully we get to this next week sometime.
My new battery charger finally got picked up. SMART CHARGER..turns OFF the juice when the battery is charged. Only 30 bucks US.
NOT A SMART CHARGER..does not turn off after batteries are fully charged causing them to overheat...could have burned my house down but luckily i caught it shortly after it had melted and warped and ruined 4 batteries. As you can see the bottom portion does not even slide back up to meet the battery anymore because the plastic melted. Wasted $50 Canadian. It was the only charger available at The Source.

I bought the new one from BatterySpace.com. Fast service. Loved it .http://www.batteryspace.com/
It looks like something from the 80's so it's got to be good. Haha. When I get some cash I am going to buy a bunch more rechargable batteries for some flashlights and toys around the house. I'm sure there will be many more brown outs and black outs this summer since it's probably going to be another blisteringly hot summer. I need to get my basement set up for us to chill out in on these hot days. My upstairs with the huge bay window is like a sauna until 10 pm
I am currently subsisting off of the leftovers from this "thoup" as my son calls it. I think I want to live off soup for the next few weeks. I have enough veggies in there to make another huge pot. Simple. Fast. Tasty.
My final purchase before my credit card was maxed out. Now I hope I have SOMETHING to preserve by the end of the season. sigh.
Trying to peel a huge orange by himself. He relented to my mother seconds later, but he always has to try for himself first. I think this is a good quality.

product review and update on my list

From this list of things to do that I posted earlier:

1. Quit coffee.......again
2. Get back on my 1500 calorie a day diet ....
3. Get back on my 1500 calorie a day diet by taking the time to sit down and plan my meals then make a list based on those meals, then go and get those items at the grocery store, then pre-make some of the meals for the week
 4. Check out Bulk Barn at its new location and see what groceries I can get in bulk for cheap.
5. Go to Fabricland and price tulle, and see if they even have it.
 6. Clean my house, one room at a time (will be 1-2 rooms a day), and by clean I also mean organize, donate, throw away - declutter!!
7.Tomorrow is my first day of school and I have a load of paperwork and tasks to do just based on that

I have done Fabricland...black tulle is about 8 bucks for a 3x1 metre piece. I bought one piece and put it on my perennials by my doorway to see how it works because they were showing signs of being eaten.

Bulk Barn is awesome, already posted about that one

Today I am on Day 1 of no coffee and I am at work, and people keep mentioning that I don't look awake yet. Thanks guys. Just don't say I need a coffee. I have claws. Haha. Eating hasn't been so good and neither has my spring cleaning. My schedule at school during my experiment is going to be long hours and last minute tasks. I am not sure I can get back into a routine until its done. Which won't be until the end of the month or so. Either way, this caffeine kicking will probably help me from crashing and having mood swings during the day. When I first started losing weight a friend told me caffeine is really a hindrance and I am finally heeding that advice now. It won't be easy as I am a severe addict but I also need to stop spending spare change on coffee and being late for things because I HAVE to stop for one.

I just found out my car needs major repairs so I won't be spending any money on new products other than what I need to finish the start-up of my garden, as well as a bridesmaid's dress I need to go and get at the end of the month.

I have two assignments due next week as well as another test so my weekend will be focused on that, with a little nephew's birthday party and spring cleaning thrown in there. I ordered a piece of cheese cloth on Amazon for six bucks so all I need are cinderblocks and we can build our rain barrel. I will be ordering my compost and mulch around the 20th, probably after the long weekend though.

Here is a product review:

other reviews and images
I bought this on Amazon. I have had a struggle with acne since I became a teenager and have found that Proactiv doesn't really work for me. One thing I liked about it was the mask though. I decided to go a medicated free route (Proactiv contains salicylic acid) and try this clay.

It says you can add equal parts water or raw apple cider vinegar. I dont have any raw vinegar so I just used water. I have also read that you can crush up an aspirin and add it to the mix for the salycilic acid

I look like Frankenstein. The directions say to leave it on for 3-5 or 15-20 minutes based on the sensitivity of your skin. I HAD to wash it off after about 8 minutes because the tightening and pulsating feeling (which is good) was starting to drive me crazy. I'm the type of person who can't wear fake eyelashes or a lot of makeup because I hate the feeling. It made my skin feel great though, and I will continue to use it on a weekly basis. I may go and purchase some raw vinegar if it's not too expensive to try with it.

Had a lot of time to play and be silly with my son yesterday

got nothing done, totally distracted, and a product review

Wow, the first few days of warm weather and transitioning from one schedule to another has me really distracted and not motivated to do anything productive at all. I didn't pot my new seeds yet, and i destroyed my cilantro seeds by accidentally dropping them in coffee. Don't ask.

So, here is a random photo dump since I am at work and can't do anything else right now.

My son dressed as a greaser from THE OUTSIDERS, not Grease (I hate that movie).
Me in my lab coat heading to a lab (duh), being narcissistic

And here's one I just took a few moments ago....my old friends are back...the only problem with warm weather and working at an ancient gas station

If you ever decide that you want to start using rechargable batteries there are quite a few places to buy the chargers online. Do not buy a battery charger for NiMh batteries that is not a "smart" charger because they do not recognize when the battery is fully charged and DO NOT TURN OFF causing OVERHEATING of the battery. I have 4 ruined batteries and a shorted out melted charger. After this happened I read reviews on multiple chargers and learned this is a common problem. Lesson learned. I usually read reviews before buying but got lazy this time. Never again!
I imagine this could cause fire and or chemical leakage of the batteries. If there is the ability for a charger to be "smart", shouldn't they all have this as a necessary safety feature?
I'm lucky I bought the warranty but I am not going to use this charger again anyways.

I found a "smart charger" online for cheaper than what I paid for the Energizer charger. The cheaper one also charges more than one type of rechargable battery, there are ones that contain cadmium or metal hydride with the nickel and it doesn't matter which I buy. Some chargers will only charge one or the other. I will post pics of my fried charger and my new charger in the near future.
